Having grown out of requests from the local community, the SEED school holidays programme is proving to be a huge success with both the local children who attend and their parents, who struggle during the school holidays to find a safe and nurturing environment in which to leave their children whilst they are at work.

During the June school holidays we had 40 children attending . The children arrived at 08h30 and we served breakfast – after breakfast they did some childrens yoga and rhythm & movement which the children were unsure about at first but loved by the end of the programme. The days continued with arts and crafts, which they also adored; playing with toys; gardening; and outside ball games. A light vegetarian lunch was served, followed by story telling which was also a firm favourite. The children loved being part of the programme which ended with a PJ or onsie party and a treasure hunt.

The next holiday programme takes place in September, and is being organised by the wonderful Rene John’s with the assistance of additional facilitators and volunteers. We will also be incorporating an extended gardening programme that will begin on the holiday programme but will complete around six weeks later.
