Learning adventures for under resourced schools in at the Cape Flats are ticking along nicely at Rocklands Urban Abundance Center. Soyisile Primary School Grade 5 learners from Khayelitsha had a wonderful day of learning and exploring with us, and we have also established a close knit relationship with Khanya Primary School not very far from our centre at Rocklands.

We received some great news from the Sinithemba School Eco Club who visited SEED last year in November. Blessing Mutiti from South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) who runs the Eco Club recently wrote to us: ” The inspiration has done magic for the learners and they have started their own school garden.” We have since donated seedlings to the garden. Check out photos of the birth of Sinithemba’s school garden in Phillipi here.

We are also growing our schools visits to reach the whole of Cape Town and the grade 3′s  from Michael Oak Waldorf, Kenilworth spent a hands-on morning At Rocklands learning about soil, compost, worms and the joyous miracle of decomposition. Photo’s here.

Here at SEED we are constantly looking to evolve and improve our programmes,  and are very keen to engage with and experienced teacher who is committed to growing ecological literacy. We welcome any level of mentoring and advice so we can take our Schools Learning Adventures to the next level. Please inbox yoli@seed.org.za if you would like to engage with us.
