Tania Jacobs the dedicated “CEO” of the SEED Seed Bank hosted a Seed Saving Workshop at Rocklands on Saturday 25th April with the Ekasi Project Green crew and others.
Ekasi Project Green are a grass roots organisation run by some incredible youth from Khayelitsha who are deeply committed to bringing farming into urban townships for various reasons including promoting food security and healthy living in urban township communities.
Seed saving is a critical element of food security and food sovereignty and Tania was able to share her ever expanding knowledge with everyone present, whilst also learning from their experiences.
Thanks to all involved including the Slow Food Youth Network South Africa and Abalimi & Harvest of Hope for this very inspiring day, and a special thanks to the very talented Safra Levin for the photo’s below. You can see more of Safra’s beautiful photographs of the workshop here.
